Be curious – ask good questions – and listen

One of the most common traits among successful people in business is curiosity. It drives people to grow and learn new things. It keeps your mind sharp and keeps life full of wonder. “The unexamined life is not worth living“- Socrates. Ask thoughtful questions – this is one of the most important and powerful tools you can use in life – and it’s a tool you can use every day. There is power in information: If you ask profound questions you get profound answers – if you ask lame questions you get lame answers – if you ask no questions you get no information at all. In order to make good decisions in life, at home, at school, in sports, at work, anywhere, you need good information. Ask great questions – and ask a lot of them. Stating opinions will many times close down the conversation – asking profound questions opens up conversations, new avenues, thoughts, creativity and possibilities. Side note: questions are also the best conversation starters – people usually want to talk about themselves and when you ask questions they instinctively feel you care about them and they feel validated – and your knowledge grows as you listen. Pretty simple but easy to forget πŸ™‚
